Version reviewed: 1.7.0Phone model: Samsung Epic (Galaxy S)
Accessibility Rating:
1 - The app is completely unusable with a screen reader
Navigation:
Some of the controls can be accessed
Labels:
Some buttons, edit boxes, and controls are labeled
User comments:
Unfortunately recent changes to this app have made it inaccessible. while some of the buttens can still be accessed, the primary purpose of the app, reading Facebook content, no longer works. Scrolling through feeds produces no speech output. For basic news feed access I recommend HootSuite. If your phone came with a pre-installed earlier version of Facebook that you can use I recommend making sure auto update is turned off. You may be able to keep using the old version.

This app is great if you want to catch up on statuses in the news feed. Please keep in mind if you wish to like or comment on a status you must open the status with the enter key to interact with it. I however have not found a way to post a status. It seems this is on a part of the screen not visible to Mobile Accessibility. It also seems you can get to your friends, events, messages, etc with the main screen of the app. Overall, the information in the app is accessible, but it eludes me how to post my own status. Somewhat agrivating, but perhaps someone has a tip or trick I'm missing.

Everything is accessible with this app. When you first launch the facebook app, you will find yourself on the newsfeed. You can scroll up and down to read the feed, but you will need to press the back key to back out of the feed. This is weird since it is the first place you landed, but the back key will bring you to the main screen. From here you can do a status update, check out the gallery, go to facebook chat, message people, and more. This application will use battery, especially if you forget to quit the app, as people can chat with you even when you have left the application. Chat tips - I recommend backing out of the chat box after writing to someone, so that you get the sound notification when they reply to you. Sometimes you have to scroll up and down to read the chat messages correctly, You will have to clear chat history in order to remove the previous chats from the top of the main chat window.(this chat window is a list of names that are online, but you will have a list of names you previously chatted with at the top of this list.
